The Red Crested Cardinal, better known as the Brazilian Cardinal, has been around since 1930 and is from South America.  This is a species of bird that is in the family of the tanagers.  You may think that it would be closely related to cardinals, but they are not.  The habitats of this bird includes degraded forests,  and dry, tropical/subtropical shrubland.  They are found in areas such as Brazil and Argentina.  They are also in the areas of Hawaii and Puerto Rico.  This bird is one that has a red head, a belly that is white, and wings that are gray.

Diet: It feeds on seeds, plant matter, insects and fruit
