Turkestan Tit (Parus bokharensis)

The Turkestan Tit, better known as the Grey Tit, lives at altitudes of 1200 – 1500m, in deciduous, saxaul areas of forest, near the banks of watercourses. These birds breed in separate pairs where they can stay fairly close to one another. When choosing their nesting location they will often find old tree holes made by woodpeckers or ones that naturally exist in trees. Their nest will be made from dry grasses, leaves, and small twigs that they assemble and line with feathers and hair. Their eggs are usually ready to hatch in the months of April, May, and June. They will have anywhere from four to eight eggs in their nest. Both of the bird parents participate in the feeding ritual of these little fledglings until they are able to start fetching their own meals toward the May – August period.
