Anyone would like any of the three African birds known as the waxbill. The Gold-Breasted Waxbill is one just one type of waxbill. This type of waxbill is the smallest of all waxbill and is in fact one of the smallest of the imported birds. Although there are several types, with different color schemes, all are considered attractive. The males tend to have a green like brown coloring on the upper part of its body, with a breast that is bright orange the blends into a reddish color on the chest and down towards the stomach. Along their sides they have 3 inch long gray stripes.
It is not hard to take care of a Gold-Breasted Waxbill. It lives well with other species of birds and are very health resilient. As a bonus, they usually are in great moods.
Food is no problem. Feed them either millet or a finch mixture. They are not much for fruit but will take it or greens.
