The red-billed firefinch or Senegal firefinch (Lagonosticta senegala) is a small passerine bird. This estrildid finch is a resident breeding bird in most of Sub-Saharan Africa
The male is pinkish red over most of the body with brown underside around the vent and primary flight feathers. They have eyes that are dark with a small bit of white skin around each eye. The flanks have a visible white spotting. They measure approximately 4 cm long. The beak is pinkish red with a line of black along the bottom and top.
The female is overall brown, but also has white flecking on the flanks like in the male. The beak is the same as the male as well. The female has a pinkish red color over the eyes to the head and the legs and feet are colored light.
