The Black Face Zebra Finch is a distinctly colored bird with a black coloration on the side of their head. This starts at the side of their beak and ends behind their eye, thus giving them the “Black Face” name.
These markings, however, are varied according to gender. Male Black Face Zebra Finches usually have reddish colored bodies, a black tear mark that is part of the black face marking, and orange cheek patches. They also have a bar on their breast that can cover the entire area, normally black.
Females are generally the same color as males, only more subdued. The black face markings may be absent or grey.
