The Cinereous finch is actually a tanager in the family Thraupidae, and known scientifically as the Piezorhina cinerea.
The soft grey Cinereous finch (“cinereous” actually means “resembling ash”) is native to Peru and is dwindling in population.
It is found in low coastal regions of desert areas. It may have originated in Ecuador.
