Masked crimson tanager (Ramphocelus nigrogularis)
These are attractive and brightly colored birds that resemble the Brazilian tanager. Males have deep red coloration on their underparts and the head. Their belly is black, as is the mask covering their forehead and throat. Their beak is brown with a white lower mandible. Juvenile birds are brown. Females are also brown, but have a black beak instead of the characteristic brown and white.
Diet
Feeds primarily on fruits, leaves, buds and nectar.
