The thick-billed green pigeon (Treron curvirostra) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae.

It ranges across the eastern regions of the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, stretching from the Eastern Himalayas to Borneo and Sumatra. There are currently two sub species: T. c. nipalensis and T.c.curvirostra. The latter being restricted to South of Thailand.

Description:

The Thick-billed green pigeon is smaller than other green pigeons. It has a thick pale greenish bill with red base,broad bluish-Green eye ring,grey crown and a maroon mantle. Wings are primarily black with yellow outer edge. The undersides of both the males are females are green. The thighs are dark green with whitish scales. Female has greenish undertail coverts with whitish scales. Males have maroon dorm and dull chestnut undertail coverts.

Voice:

A sequence of drawn-out, melodious, dove-like whistles.

Breeding:

Breeding season is late Mar to Aug in NE India, with peak in May.

These pigeons are mostly frugivorous which includes figs.
