The Yellow-bellied Waxbill, along with the twinspot, firefinch andwaxbill, belongs to the Estrildidae group of birds. It is found in southern Africa and is also known as the East African Swee. The average life span is between five and seven years.
Feeding: The species typically lives on vegetables, fruits and finch mix.
Colring: The male birds have a brighter orange and gold color on the belly.
Compatibility: The species can mix with most other finches and is generally non-aggressive.
Habitat, breeding and nesting: The species is able to breed in colonies or a cage and prefer a partially open wooden nesting box, or a larger nest made from bamboo. Nesting material preferred is jute and coco fiber. The Yellow-bellied Waxbill four or five white colored eggs and prefers live food to raise their young.
